We actually did a strong protection spell for a third party at our water altar a few days ago and the mermaid in our picture wears a special necklace and she is a bit like the Lady of The Lake - she presides over the ponds we use for rituals. Wildlife drinks from the ponds too - foxes, birds and on occasion even cats, so this adds to the natural environment.
