This is basically how 'tuning in' looks to many mediums and psychics. It is like seeing glimpses and patches of the psychic world through thick foliage, where a good deal of the view is obscured. Spirit does not want us to know everything about our futures, there are some things all of us have to work out for ourselves, a bit like a life test.
We are psychic impressionists, the Manets and Monets of the psychic and mediumship world. We are shown impressions of the future through a hazy distorted picture, very much like Monet's water lily paintings.
This is also how a person's aura looks that has been torn. The torn aura leaks light out in to the occult darkness, attracting negative energies and spirits who want to energy feed. That is why it is so important to keep a healthy auric balance.
